<title>KK Commander 1.0B released</title>
<link>http://www.atari-users.net/Article1459.html</link>
<description>Pierre TON-THAT announced on usenet:

Bonsoir

As always, download on my webpage, or directly in the folder:
http://rajah.atari.org/files/ -&gt; kkcmd10b_uk.zip (90KB)

If you don't know about this program, it's a shell à-la-total-commander, very very basic. Can run in ST monoTOS 320*200, or under MagiC with long filenames.

News:
- MiNT Memory Protection compatibility (no more crash at start, at least. remove of RESERVE at initialization)
- remove of LPEEK for TOS detection (use of GEMDOS version)
- some minor changes in the RSC for ergonomic purposes
- mouse button right click = click on the &quot;~&quot; button

So it seems i have found how to produce .prg MiNT MP compliant. Please tell me if it works correctly under you hard-core user mint computer. And i will fix/update my other programs.

Voilà

<title>AtarICQ 0.172 is released</title>
<link>http://www.atari-users.net/Article1458.html</link>
<description>It was originally planned to wait until this summers NAS (http://www.sak.nu/nas/) before releasing a new version av AtarICQ. However, after a rather hard hitting bug was recently discovered and fixed it was instead decided to get a new release out as soon as possible.

The biggest noticeable addition to aICQ 0.172 is the ability to view GIF images as background in the contact list. This was made possible through a cooperation with PeP, who has been kind enough to supply a very, very nice OVL that decodes and processes the GIF data. Cheers for that!

Example screenshot: http://www.ataricq.org/20080415-aicq.png

A somewhat thorough complete list of changes:

* Implemented support for loading graphics via external load modules in form of dedicated overlays. (Look into the preferences dialog to set this feature up properly)

* Caching of background images implemented. By default AtarICQ will use a subdir (/cache) in its own workdirectory for storing the data. To change this, you need to tweak the cache dir within preferences dialog.

* After loading the GFXGIF.OVL the CPU cache will now be flushed before the client calls any functions within the OVL. Applies also to aicq.ovl!

* When put in compact mode (F10) the contact list will now use the native sliders of the AES, including a SIZER widget.

* Clicking the CLOSER widget on contact list while holding ALT-key, will trigger aICQ to remove the window TITLE.

* More optimised redraws of the TABs, resulting in much less flickering when toggling between open TABs.

* Cookie jar is now read utilizing Ssystem() under MiNT. Under TOS/MagiC, the old method is still used.

* Under large gfx resolutions the scrollback setting could easily be defaulting to a much too small value, in case the message window height was increased. A check for this is now added after reading the config file. This problem could be noticed as a very serious scrolling problem, causing aICQ to lock up pretty good.

* In case COLOR_SELECT is not specified in the environment, AtarICQ looks if COLSEL.PRG is present in its workdir. (This prg is included in the zip file as of the 0.172 release)

Find the new release on the official AtarICQ website:

<title>SpartaDOS X 4.41 Upgrade from DLT</title>
<link>http://www.atari-users.net/Article1451.html</link>
<description>The purpose of this project is to add new functions to the best disk operating system for the Atari 8-bit computer ever created, and to clean up few bugs at the occasion. The last SpartaDOS X version (4.22) was released 10 years ago. Most users got used to its bugs and shortages. New software and hardware developments, however, made us think about a new, cleaned up and modernized version of the DOS, which would be compatible with the 4.22 (from FTe), and enhanced both in software and hardware.

<title>Hatari version 1.0.0 released</title>
<link>http://www.atari-users.net/Article1447.html</link>
<description>Version 1.0.0 of the Atari ST, STE, TT and Falcon emulator Hatari has been released. A lot of things have been changed this time:

- The user's configuration files are now located in the directory ~/.hatari/ instead of the $HOME directory itself.
- Improved VDI resolution mode (resolution can now be change in small steps).
- The 'Frame Skip 8' option can now be correctly selected, too.
- Fixed some bugs/problems in the GEMDOS HD emulation (with Fopen &amp; Fcreate).
- Keyboard shortcuts for saving and restoring memory snapshots.
- Hatari can now be compiled with CeGCC, too.
- Fixed some problems with the FPU emulation. NeoN Grafix renders now right.
- Writing to floppy disk images works now also with TOS 4.0x.
- A lot of source code clean-up and beautification.
- Monochrome mode now runs in 71 Hz, and 60 Hz color mode now also really runs with 60 Hz refresh rate.
- Fixed memory snapshot files (some important data has not been saved before).
- It is now possible to automatically load/save memory snapshots at start/exit.
- Fixed some bugs in the file selection dialog.
- Some minor improvements in the GUI: Improved text edit fields, &quot;Cancel&quot; buttons can now be activated by pressing the ESC key, and Hatari asks the user before resetting and quitting the emulator.
- The Hatari executable is now relocatable (so the RPM can be relocated, too).
- It's now possible to enable special trace output with the &quot;--trace&quot; option.
- The size of the borders can now be specified in the hatari.cfg file.
- Fixed Spec512 screen plotting on big endian machines.
- Native screen conversion functions for 32 bpp host display mode.
- Reworked the command line options.
- Added missing read for &quot;clr&quot; in 68000 CPU mode.
- Cycle correct MULU/MULS/DIVU/DIVS in 68000 CPU mode.
- Support for 68000 instructions pairing
- Better emulation of exception stack frame (bus/address error), used in some protections.
- Don't change illegal 68000 opcodes $8, $a and $c if no cartridge is inserted.
- Ensure ACIA has consistent values when reset.
- More precise interrupt handling, allowing to mix CPU cycles and MFP cycles with greater precision.
- Various improvements in MFP emulation (stop/start timer without writing to data register, reading data register, handle pending cycles when timer &quot;wraps&quot; (i.e. data register reaches 0), ...). Supports programs using some very &quot;fast&quot; timers (Overscan Demos, ULM Demos) and requiring nearly cycle exact synchronisation with the 68000.
- Mostly correct wait states when accessing sound registers (add wait state for $ff8801/ff8803 when needed).
- Correct values of cycle counters read &amp; write accesses for the most common cases used for fullscreen/hardscroll.
- Correct values for Video_CalculateAddress, taking into account frequency and left/right borders' state, needed for correct synchronization between video and cpu.
- Improve top/bottom border removal, including 60 Hz bottom border, as well as &quot;short&quot; 50 Hz screen (171 lines)
- Support for all left/right border removal, including 0 byte lines.
- Support for hardscroll on STF, including the most recent ones using 4/5 lines.
- Support for 4 pixels horizontal hardscroll on STF (ST Connexion in Punish Your Machine)
- Small adjustments in cycle precise color handling (spec512.c)

<title>TeraDesk 3.95 released</title>
<link>http://www.atari-users.net/Article1445.html</link>
<description>Djordje Vukovic announced on usenet:

Hi;

Version 3.95 of TeraDesk open-source desktop for the 16-bit and 32-bit lines of Atari computers is available at:

http://solair.eunet.yu/~vdjole/teradesk.htm

This release fixes several bugs related to handling of times and dates. It also brings an improvement in behaviour related to 'special' applications. Powering-off of CT60 at shutdown now works correctly, even in single-TOS.

Beside the changes made to the program itself, a new page was added to the introductory section of the hypertext manual, highlighting some nice features specific to TeraDesk which otherwise may pass unnoticed by users.

Have fun.
